Principal's Message

New Principal's Welcome Letter

Dear Cottle Community:

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write to you to introduce myself as the new Principal of William E. Cottle Elementary School. It is truly an honor to join the WEC family and the Tuckahoe community, and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with all of you to provide our children with a safe, nurturing learning environment and a top-notch education!

I come to Cottle with 15 years of experience as an educator, both as an administrator and teacher, having served most recently as an Assistant Principal in the Pleasantville school district. I also have some further special experience on the home front. My wife, Maura, who taught K-2 for 10 years, and I have three children aged 3, 5, and 8. We clearly recognize the importance of a solid academic foundation that begins in elementary school.

I firmly believe that every student deserves the best possible education and that every child can excel. For that to happen, there must be a positive, collaborative partnership between home and school with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and community members all working together to support the best interests of our children.

This summer I will be working to ensure the administrative transition is as smooth as possible. I will be getting to know our school and our community and exploring ways to build on the tradition of excellence here at Cottle. Throughout the year, my door will always be open to you, and I welcome your input and feedback. So, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to share.

In closing, I hope you all enjoy a restful and relaxing summer filled with many happy memories. I look forward to meeting all of you – especially our students – and to a great year ahead of us!

Best regards,
John Morash
