A Message from the William E. Cottle Elementary School- The Cottle Weekly
June 5, 2026
Dear Cottle Families,
As we complete the first school week in June, it is hard to believe that we are just three weeks away from the conclusion of another outstanding school year. While we were disappointed to postpone our highly anticipated PTA Cottle Field Day due to excessive heat conditions, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority. Our Cottle Field Day will take place this upcoming Tuesday, June 9th. The weather for the 9th looks beautiful. Once again thank you to the PTA in working with the Cottle administration in providing our Cubs with a memorable Field Day experience they deserve.
Last evening, our talented Cottle Strings and Cottle Band students delivered an exceptional performance that truly showcased their hard work, dedication, and musical growth throughout the year. Their energy and talent filled the room, and we are incredibly proud of all of our student musicians. A special thank you goes to Ms. Barrett., whose dedication, expertise, and hard work with our students helped make the evening such a tremendous success. We would also like to recognize Ms. Kim for her invaluable assistance as pianist and for her contributions to this memorable performance. We also invite all families to join us on June 10th via Zoom for an informational discussion regarding the Magnetic Literacy Pilot Program at Cottle School. This will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about the program, ask questions, and hear about the exciting literacy work taking place within our school community. The Zoom link will be sent out on Monday via blackboard connect. Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a wonderful and rewarding final few weeks of the school year.
Have a poem to share? Join the Poetry Pals for our very first Open Mic Poetry Session on Friday, June 12th from 1:30–2:30 p.m. in the Cottle Auditorium! This is a wonderful opportunity to step up to the microphone, share your original poetry, and let your voice be heard. Whether your poem is funny, thoughtful, heartfelt, or imaginative, we want to celebrate your creativity. No prior experience is needed—just courage, creativity, and a willingness to share! Sign up today and be part of this exciting celebration of student voices! Poetry Pals Open Mic Sign Up
